Super Moon!

I couldn’t help myself…

This particular shot of the Moon was taken years ago. It was actually my lunar eclipse shot from 2007, with a color balance change. I was getting prepped for the Super Moon on May 5th, 2012, and decided to have a little fun with Photoshop before going out to image. Sadly, I did not see the Superman shield on the Moon tonight.

Perigee Eve’s Silhouette

The evening before the Moon’s prigee to Earth, just before full, silhouetted by trees on the western most ridge line of Nisene Marks.

I wasn’t expecting to set up tonight, and did not have enough time to prep, just grabbed the Canon 350D, threw the scope on a mount and started shooting. Aperture stopped down to ~f/20 to allow both tree and Moon to focus, since they were only some 500-700 yards away.
